01 — Bio
Born in Milan, flutist and musicologist Gabriele Formenti has always worked on two fronts: performing music, and studying and telling its story. After his flute diploma he specialised in the baroque flute and historically informed performance, recording rarely heard works of eighteenth-century Italian instrumental music.
A professional journalist, he writes about music and recordings, hosts programmes on Venice Classic Radio and is the author of historical novels set in the world of music. He holds a permanent post as a music teacher in a lower secondary school and is a tutor at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
